An evening with president Lech Walesa

Former Polish President and revolutionary political leader Lech Walesa spoke at FIU on September 8th. Nowadays Lech Wałęsa is still the propagator of solidarity and explains private companies’ importance to economic growth in countries and social impact. Leaders and businessmen attended these lectures, including Javier Cárdenas CEO of Rhino Equipment and other important leaders of the region.

Proceedings of this past lecture were led by FIU and Inspire America President Marcell Felipe. Walesa defined the current state of modern politics as one where people fight primarily with words and ideology, and that society was caught between two epochs: tradition and progress. He also called for the reformation of global structures and a move away from increasing international competition.

Walesa, recipient of hundreds of honours, including the Nobel Peace Prize, the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom, the French Legion of Honour, and “Time Magazine’s” Person of the Year Award concluded his time with a call to action, encouraging others to organize for change and to find solutions in themselves and in their community.
